Jeff Stokes is the only " Triple Crown" Auctioneer Champion as he has won the IAC, WAAC and WLAC throughout his illustrious career. Based in Seattle , WA Jeff now heads one of the most successful and diverse auction companies in the country. Jeff's services are requested around the globe and he is a true international superstar in the industry. Jeff will be offering insight on bid calling, public persona, benefit auctions and special appeals among other topics. A redesigned format for the conference has lead to some significant changes. Real Estate Con-Ed has been moved to Friday to make room for a truly engaging treat. The incomparable Tim Luke will be on hand Tuesday afternoon to kick off the week. Mr. Luke is widely regarded as the guru of public speaking. The stars truly aligned for this conference so that we could bring you 2015 International Auctioneer Champion Peter Gehres, 2015 International Auctioneer Runner-Up Champion Beth Rose, NAA Executive Director Hannes Combest, in addition to Tim Luke and Jeff Stokes. We will also be treated to a seminar on internet advertising and exposure by local writer JL Sumpter. Sumpter is an accomplished persuasive writer who has found his niche in using power words to optimize the internet profile of various small companies as they compete for exposure amongst industry leaders. You will find his seminar very useful going forward as you try to keep up with the changing analytics of internet marketing.
Auctioneers looking to improve their bid calling technique have always looked forward to the One-On-One sessions with past champions. This years convention offers a new twist on an old favorite. For one time only, Peter Gehres and Jeff Stokes are teaming up to offer the most comprehensive and educational bid calling instruction we have ever had. This interactive session will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Attendees will receive critiques, tips and tricks on bid calling, chant clarity, crowd control, and competition etiquette. Members are encouraged to sign up early for this opportunity as seating will be limited!
Rounding out the educational format will be the ever popular Round Table discussions. Various industry topics will be discussed including Facebook boosts, Auction zip changes and alternatives, MAA website navigation, auction history and evolution, etc.
Wednesday night will feature everyone's favorite event, the Michigan Auctioneer and Ringman Championships. 2015 MAC Wade Leist and 2015 RC Darin Hower will co-emcee this event and turn their Crowns over to the next deserving Champions. This year's competitions are sure to be as exciting as ever. The MAA Competition Committee encourages all eligible members to throw their hat in the ring and go for the crown! As many past Champions can attest, every contestant will come away from the competition a better Auctioneer or Ringman. The 2016 competition judges are already in place and are perhaps the most experienced set of auction talent evaluators we have seen to date. In addition, all contestants will be offered a special preparation meeting prior to the contests. For the first time ever, all contestants can receive information on the contest, rules, expectations and tips in an organized format prior to the contest. Thursday evening will be highlighted by the 2016 President's Ball. Attendees will be treated to an industry award presentation, possible Hall of Fame inductions, special ceremony, new officer swearing, incoming President presentation, as well as a delicious meal. The President's Ball is always a wonderful night to recognize the efforts and accomplishments of fellow members while catching up with old friends and meeting new faces.
As our industry changes and presents new challenges and opportunities, so must our membership. The MAA strives to educate and promote their members like no other state association.
